KEITH MEADOWS ENTERS THE 21 ST CENTURY ! Well the good news is that Keith Meadows , author, cameraman, photographic safari operator, is at long last getting to grips with...yes wait for it....a COMPUTOR !!! After years of wrestling with a typewriter (probably one of those old manual ones if I know Keith, the ones that go "ting" when you shove the carriage to the end.....and carbon paper even (I mean I haven't had any of that nasty stuff in my home since granny fell off the bus !! And now Keith, bless his heart has found out the glories of cutting, pasting, multiple copies without carbon paper, a paperless desk, a spell check, a thesaurus at the push of a button to replace his ancient old tome, even his slate has been stowed away in his attic and he has entered, at long last - THE TWENTIETH CENTURY !! No more tippex, no more scribbled editing up the margin, down the other side and round the corner. Imagine just how excited his publishers are going to be !! He has even discovered the different size fonts which are a real treat if the old eyesight is playing up as it tends to do at "our age ". Hallelujah Keith, keep on with that "Infernal Machine" as you call it, your life will never be the same again and maybe we will get some more great books out of you bigger, better, quicker, faster....... Keith meadows is the Author of "Sand in the Wind" , "Fothergill - Bridging a Conservation Era", "Sometimes When it Rains" and working on a new novel called "The Evil That Men Do." The sun kisses a mountain top For each of us that this day awakes And the past regrets and foolish fears For each of us is reborn each day, For a man without a goal in life He has no reason to stretch his mind, Better to take the wine of life For the battle of life is joined, and Gird up your loins with courage --WilliamE Bailey---
98 YEARS OLD AND STILL GOING STRONG !! I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Vera De Smidt yesterday. Vera is 98 years old and she lives with her son John (ex Railways Public relations Office ) in Heyman Road. Bright as a button, sparkling eyes that to this day do not need glasses, Vera broke her leg recently and has been slightly inconvenienced as a result !! Vera's son was jokingly telling her that he was going to put her into a women's old age home if she was naughty and Vera retorted, "well you had better make sure that it is right next to the Mens Old Age home so that I can sneak over there from time to time" .....
