The Haven, a battered and abused womans' shelter has been in 
existence for the last 10 years. It was started by Women in Law and 
subsequently taken over by the University Womans' Association.

Woman in trouble are able to make contact with the shelter from 
clinics, hospitals, police stations and through the welfare.  They 
are then collected and taken to the shelter with their children
where 
they are fed and clothed and given time to heal and formulate a plan 
for their futures.  At the moment there are 22 people at the home, 9 
women and their children.  They find themselves at the shelter often 
with only the clothes on their backs and the children are removed 
from their homes and schools and everything that is familiar.

The Haven is in need of everything…..   Clothes for the women and 
their children who age from newborn to 12 years at the 
moment,                                                Food

                                         Material scraps ( the home 
has a sewing machine_)

                                         Wool and knitting needles

                                         Books, magazines, crayons 
paper, toys, games

Anyone prepared to go to the home and spend time with the women or 
their children, providing healing activities, such as painting and 
drawing, learning to knit or crochet,or sew,  drama, etc.

The women, grow vegetables,  clean the house and cook.

Any assistance in any form will be greatly appreciated.

Just sorting out the Mirror to print out for my friends and noticed 
the tick removal thingy...you wont all have liquid soap nowadays so 
grease of any form does the trick, Vicks is nice too but can you get 
that? they certainly come out quicker, this also works a treat for 
Maggot Fly Eggs - (I know we got a whack of those at one stage --
you 
just have to wait a bit for the "boil" to start, plonk on the Vicks 
and out they wriggle revolting hey!!)  if you are out in the bush
and 
need tick removal a blob of grease from the battery terminals, car 
engine whereever works fine - it is just so that the wretched things 
cant breathe as their heads are in your skin..grease makes them pull 
out.   I guess you know all this, but had to say it --- it also 
worked a treat on my dogs!!

especially deformity on the lips (Cleft Lip).

There is a team of 5 plastic facial surgeons coming to Zimbabwe from

September for 10 days to operate on these children for 10 days. This
