Thought l would share this little story with the other people who are interested in the Blue Heads. Yesterday whilst at the Acscot Race Track l heard a noise that sounded like a cat choking. On inspection l found a crow attacking a Blue Head (well actually a plain brown, must be a female) who was on its back and trying desperately to fend off the crow with this terrible noise to no avail. I chased the crow away and managed to entice the distraught Blue Head into a bucket and took her home. She seemed to have given up and wasn't moving. I administered some Rescue Remedy (magic stuff this) mixed with water and slowly syringed it into her mouth. I left her in a quiet place for 15 mins and when l went back to check on her she seemed a lot more alert. I took her outside and set her free. Within seconds she had clambered up the tree and on inspection today she was still there. I hope that there are other people out there who will also help to preserve these wonderful reptiles. Claire Einhorn LETS START A PETITION AGAINST THE CROWS IN BULAWAYO If there are crows around the garden where the baby Hugelin Robin went missing, my guess is they are the thieves. I am horrified to see just how devastating they are to our environmental creatures. Lizards, baby birds, chickens, bird and fowl eggs, anything smelling from paper and plastic bags to rotting bones etc. are their menu of the day. They carry these bits to my Jacaranda tree and what they don't eat is thrown beneath. A friend of mine reported them attacking a starving dog trying to get it's eyes and privates. They are dreadful things and have multiplied to unnatural proportions in our town because of our throw-away food society. Not to mention the filth left from their droppings throughout Bulawayo. I would be number one on the list in getting rid of them, or at least bringing their population down. Is there nothing that can be done about them?
