On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and
proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, sixty years ago ... sixty whole
years ago this week .......
What happened to those rights in Zimbabwe ?
Are we not members of the United Nations ? Why are we not being accorded the basic
Human Rights right here in our own country ?
Do we have freedom of speech ?
Do we have the right to medical care ?
Do we have the right to have a safe working environment ?
Do we have freedom of the press ?
Do we have the right to privacy ?
Do we have the right to bear arms ?
Do we have freedom of opinion and expression ?
Do we have the right to receive an education ?
Do we have freedom of movement/travel ?
Do we have the right to adequate housing ?
Do we have freedom from cruel and unusual punishment ?
Do we have the right to an attorney ?
Do we have the right to a fair trial by jury ?
Do we have the right to have a minimum wage ?
Do we have the right to adequate housing ?
About the only Human Right we have in the long list is the right to live, to exist, because
that is just about all we are doing at this moment.
Have we got the right to Security ?
Safety from violence ?
Protection from the law ?
Having a fair trial ?
To be seen as innocent, even if a person is arrested, until the person is found to be guilty
by a fair court ?
To be a citizen of a country ?
To vote ?
To seek asylum if a country treats you badly ?
To think freely ?
To peacefully protest against a government or group ???
To a basic standard of living ??
Education ??
Health care ??
What basic rights do we have as Zimbabweans ?
What are we going to do about it ?
What a gutsy lot you are.. preparing the MM for my local "subscribers" I blow my nose
frequently, swell with pride and find it unbelievable that nothing gets you down..not that
fool, not the cholera, you keep going and going... YOUR turns will come that I continue to
pray for... you celebrate Christmas with what you have and how wonderful it all sounds.
Sitting here in comfort in front of my ancient computer I feel full of pride that the spirit of
the Matabeles continues to keep on top of all problems... you are all truly amazing.

A SALUTE TO A VERY BRAVE TROOPIE,
A final salvo was launched (Friday the 5th of December.2008) in Cleone's war against the
dreaded, renegade cancer cells, that ravaged her body and mind. - now all is quiet -
peace
has come to her at last! It was a hard fought battle with no quarters given. No let up on
either side,
we fought to the the very end. The body & mind may have lost, but the sprit and soul
never gave in.
Our wonderful support team where there right until the end - Always doing the right thing
and doing
things right.Hospice and all our special friends,no words could express our gratitude and
thanks.
I judge life's successes a little differently from most and count relationships, being way
above wealth,
fame/success or possessions. The people / friends who came to say goodbye, made me
realise how much
real wealth Cleone & I have accumulated in our 28 years - thank you one and all for your
support, help, love
and concern.
Love from Brian, Julian, Vicky & Family

BRIAN HENRY LEZAR
Died suddenly on Monday, 8th December 2008. Bulawayo will miss this truly wonderful,
kind, compassionate man. No words can express this loss.
Ashleigh, Dean, Tracey and children - there are no words to express our deepest
sympathy on the loss of, first and foremost, a very special dad and grandad - then
everything else that he was to the many people who knew him and were blessed by him.
We were very priviledged to have known him for the short time that we did. He changed
our lives and we want to thank you for your support and understanding. Lots of love
Roma and Alexandra
And to all the other special people who have phoned and offered comfort and support -
thank you.
