Calling everyone who believes in the POWER OF PRAYER to pray at this CRITICAL time, for
GOD to give our country the right Leadership.
Chronicles 2 - 7v14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek
my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive
their sin and I will heal their land..
Proverbs 29v2
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule,
the people mourn.

I am writing to pass on the sad news that Gail Altman passed away on Saturday after a
long struggle with cancer. She had spent her last days in the warmth and comfort of
Savyon Lodge where she became a friend to all there. Zimbabwe is richer for the
contribution she made to the arts here and she will be sorely missed.
The boys at CBC will be holding a short memorial service for her on Friday, 29 February
and we are planning hold a gathering in her memory at the National Gallery in Bulawayo,
hopefully on Saturday 8 March at 4pm, still to be confirmed.
She requested a no fuss cremation and her wishes have been fulfilled.
Please pass this e mail on to any who need to know.

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, an hour, or a day, or a year, but
eventually subside and something else will take its place. If I quit,
however, it lasts forever.

If you have the will to win, you have achieved half your success; if you don't, you have
achieved half your failure.

To buy a beer (9 million at most sport clubs) with our biggest official banknote (Not bearer
cheque) i.e. A thousand dollar bank note,( now worth $1.00) would take a pile 1260
metres high. (Almost our height above sea level) OR 18000 bricks (what we get from the
bank as a bundle of 500 notes.)
In volume it would work out to a one metre high block 4 metres long and 3.3 metres wide.
A Toyota Liteace load pan would have to be stacked 3.4 metres high. This would give a
total vehicle height of approximately 4 metres. You would then probably be stopped for
overloading, but to lighten the load you could "slip" the person manning the roadblock a
"quick" $4 million (Enough for a loaf of bread as I write) He could, I suppose, "pocket" the
money (Large pockets). If he did not trust you, and counted each note individually at the
rate of 2 notes per second, you would be there for the next 23 days. At this stage you
would now definitely need at least one beer, possibly significantly more. Imagine the
barman counting this whilst you get progressively thirstier.
If you built a 3 metre high wall using these bricks you could make it 63 metres long. If
you laid the notes end to end, the number of notes to buy one beer would stretch between
Harare and Bulawayo three times.
A friend of mine recently returned from the Victoria Falls and during his time there bought
a beer, it cost him $65 million dollars (Time, location and price verified, this is no joke,
especially about him buying ONE beer) This must be especially appealing to our tourists,
especially our local tourists. When the 2010 World Cup happens, how many people are
going to be willing to part with ZAR65.
Perhaps I have too much time on my hands, but I think we forget how we have accepted
the abnormal situation as normal and do not realise how far we have fallen.
Regards
David
