The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Friends of Bartley Block will be held at Bartley Memorial Block on Tuesday 6 July 2004 at 5 pm. Tea and coffee will be served prior to the meeting and we welcome all those interested especially the many ladies who help regularly at Bartley Block.
May we also take this opportunity to thank the Bulawayo public for the generous support we have had this past year in so many areas. It has indeed made our aim of assisting the residents at the hospital a lot easier. Thank you all.

This is an appeal to the wonderful citizens of Bulawayo ! The old people in Garden Park are having sleepless nights, as thieves are entering the complex in the early hours of the morning and robbing them of their precious Lnb's and satellite dishes - which could be, for some of them, their only luxury in these days of high inflation. Subject: Proof of Life....or no pension
It's very important that you visit the following web site it covers an article in the "Daily Mail" with the subject title of this e-mail. The site is www.thisismoney.com/pensions.html and the article is entitled "Proof of Life". It has meaning for every expat over there. What it boils down to is, as from last January and taking place twice a year and continuing for the next five years the department of pensions are writing to all expat pensioners for a statement/proof that they are still alive. If the department receives no answer to their enquiry within two months of sending their letter all UK state pension that the person received is stopped.
Already the department has received angry letters from expats living in France, Canada and South Africa who missed the deadline and who also claim they did not receive the forms. Pretty strong stuff and considering that a lot of expats over there rely on their UK pensions to live very serious.
