Gardener and maid and three dogs come with the property. Suitable for couple or business person. Forex preferable. I can be contacted on crawford_melanie@hotmail.com The Masvingo Drama Circle ... ... has chosen another Ray Cooney farce as their next production which will be on stage at the Bulawayo Theatre on September 12th and 13th. This is the third recent occasion on which Masvingo will be touring a play to Bulawayo, all farces by the master farceur Ray Cooney. The production is in the hands of Doug Hill, who has directed numerous farces including the last two brought to Bulawayo, which were enthusiastically acclaimed by Bulawayo audiences. The play was a great success when staged in Masvingo recently. This time the comedy is Out of Order, a very funny play involving a Junior Minister in the British Government, his indiscretion with the Opposition leader's typist in a hotel suite and the discovery of what appears to be a dead body jammed in the sash window. Fearing the tabloid press revealing details of his indiscretions and causing a Government scandal, the Minister summons his private secretary from the Commons to help sort out the problem. The Minister's girl friend's husband calls in search of his wife and threatens violence, the Minister's wife arrives unexpectedly from the country, the hotel manager starts investigating reports of an intruder who was seen staring into the suite window, the maid comes in to make the beds and the elderly waiter provides a variety of services including champagne and oysters, a wheelchair, a change of clothes for the body and sleeping pills on request but requires frequent and substantial financial rewards for his services. This all adds to the confusion and the action becomes frenetic as the Minister and his private secretary attempt to cover up what is going on with lies and frenzied behaviour, sinking further and further into trouble with the secretary ending up going through an identity crisis! Members of the cast include Anthony Lubbe, Micah Zinduru, Moira Rice, Anna Marie Matthews, Jimmy Millar, Gideon Masarira, Craig Greeff, Graeme Nish, Phyllis Olwage and Lyndo Benno, many of whom have appeared in other Cooney farces for the Circle. This play won the Olivier award for best comedy of the year and was hugely successful when staged in London. Bulawayo Creativity Celebrated Readings from the collection Short Writings from Bulawayo and a walkabout with the artists through the paintings of the Masiyephambili exposition National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo Friday 29th August 12.30 – 2.00pm All Welcome A Joint Venture by Alliance Francaise, 'amaBooks, the National Gallery in Bulawayo and the Visual Arts Association of Bulawayo Short Writings from Bulawayo's a book of stories, poems and non-fiction pieces that are evocative of Zimbabwe’s second city and its rural surroundings. Some of the contributors are well-known, including John Eppel, Pathisa Nyathi and Terence Ranger, but the majority are published here for the first time. There are 28 pieces in the book from 23 contributors: from men and women, from the different races that make up our society, from people with very different educational backgrounds, from those with urban and rural experiences. Bulawayo’s special character comes from a history of going its own way and developing its own style, as exemplified in the writings presented here. The pieces were chosen for their good writing, but also to reflect and celebrate the diversity of life in Zimbabwe. The inspiration for the book was to give voice to new writers who might otherwise be unheard and, through their writing, to bring together the different communities that make up Bulawayo – to show that there is more to unite us than to divide us. As well as the opportunity to listen to the writers read from their works will be the chance to see the paintings of fourteen Bulawayo artists from a wide spectrum of the Bulawayo artistic community. 40 paintings with the subject Bulawayo were produced by the Masiyephambili project, sponsored by the Alliance Francaise, which involved a five-day workshop in the Matopos. The artists will be available to talk about their work.
