A lovely big tabby cat was found at Qalisa on 19 September 07 and was taken to the spca. This beautiful cat is crying desperately for it's family and home. Please, please if this is your cat collect it today, it's so confused.
Whilst at the spca I had the pleasure of meeting some of the wonderful dogs and some really cute kittens - all of which have a lot of love to offer and deserve good homes. Times are very hard but can't we take on just one more pet? Please consider it.

Thank you to the wonderful people of Bulawayo for all the goods which have been donated over the last few weeks in response to our urgent appeal. However our are shelves are still bare, please help us to restock by clearing out just one cupboard and donating the unwanted items to us. You'd be surprised the difference it will make to us. All money taken at the shop goes directly to running our kennels. There is enormous pressure on the kennels and clinic in these difficult times and every little bit helps such a lot.

Dear Past Pupil/Past Teacher
Our Mountain Mums have completed their climb and news has filtered back to us of the adventure. I thought you may be interested in what happened.
After five days of acclimatisation, by climbing high and sleeping low, our four mums, Michelle Keefe, Carol Davies (Old Girl) Monica Midlane and Frances Randell found themselves at the final high altitude base camp Barafu (4 600m), ready to make the summit assault. They were to start in the very early hours of Thursday 13 September.
All of the mums in some way were being affected by the altitude, suffering from insomnia, dull headache and upset tummy. They took it with good humour however, liking themselves to warthogs having to back out of their tents at all hours of the night in temperatures of -18C to 'go to the bathroom!'
At 1:30am preparation started for the final climb. The mums recall that it was 'cold and dark'. Michelle's dull headache had developed into a vice like splitting headache but she was determined to continue. However, two and half hours into the final climb it became apparent that she was suffering from increasing altitude sickness with a nose bleed to boot. Climbers and porters are regularly lost on the mountain by not taking altitude sickness and hyper-thermia seriously. Michelle's guide insisted that she return to camp and wait there. Devastated, she was taken down.
Of the three mums who were making progress up the mountain, Carol was struggling and falling behind. Altitude sickness was taking its toll. She made it as far as Stella Peak on the rim of the Kilimanjaro Crater before being advised to descend. (She still gets a summit certificate) .
Monica and Frances continued plodding very slowly over the ice, gasping for precious oxygen in the rarified altitude, determined to make it to the Uhuru Peak at 5896m.
They arrived at Uhuru, about 100m further on from Stella Peak, well after daybreak on a clear and spectacularly beautiful morning where they stood for photographs holding the national flag and the school flag. All along their guide, Davis, had urged them on and when they were ready to collapse in a heap had said "Come on, do this for Zimbabwe, do this for your sons and daughters' school.
Once the mandatory photographs had been taken, Davis gathered the ladies together is a huddle and asked if he could pray with them. He proceeded to pray most movingly in Swahili. No doubt our mums imagined that the prayer was one of gratitude and thankfulness, for safety and the privilege of being able to witness God's creation in such splendour. But no it wasn't! When translated, it was a prayer for Zimbabwe! It was a prayer asking for deliverance from our present troubles and tribulation, for a better life for the people of this land. With tears streaming down their cheeks, (and freezing) the mums joined in and each prayed a little prayer. Both report that it was a very emotional moment.
They all proceeded down the mountain gulping in precious oxygen as the air quality, improved, literally every ten meters of descent. All were reunited at the high altitude base camp; once again a very emotional time. They had done it!
I am writing to you because we have found a little toy pom puppy. It was found in Coghlan Avenue in Kumalo by a young man who walked up and down Coghlan avenue knocking on doors looking for the owner, to no avail. My husband brought the little puppy home - she is not more than 2 months old, and obviously very well cared for and fat! She is the same colouring as a chow, and very sweet! Someone must be desperately looking for her.

4) ROSES AND RASPBERRIES
Dear Maggie and all Bulawegians, Bulamphaphians, Funazonkians, or whatever!
What a pleasure it is to get my weekly "Morning Mirror" from Maggie. It is one of my bright spots in the week.
Today I felt compelled to write and thank you Maggie for what you are, have done and are doing. I also wanted to say hello to you all.
The observation of the Jacarandas and the end piece on Hope & Trust are just typical of the inspiration and nostalgia that you bring to all of us, in every issue of your "Morning Mirror", no matter where we live.
For those of us not in Bulawayo, it helps us share with you in some small way, the trials and tribulations, your hopes and the weekly events, in the lives of you all in Bulawayo.
I lived in Bulawayo from 1969 to '77 and have extremely fond memories of my Favourite City and still have one or two good friends there.
My home, now, is in Bambazonke and although my wife and I are overseas, and like a lot of exiles, it is our intention to return when we are in a position to do so. My admiration goes to all Zimbabweans and especially the Bulawegians who are "hanging-in" with courage, fortitude and humour and which is reflected in the "Morning Mirror".
It makes me proud to call myself a Zimbabwean.

The Barry Hilton show held at the Amphitheatre in the park was a welcome change for the 'show starved' Bulawayo public. The supporting dancers were a good start to the evening and the 'live' music excellent, those who stayed on after Barry Hilton were treated to a few more hours of live music where they could dance the night away. Well done C.B.C. PTA and thank you for a great evening of fun and great music.
However, after the show, we then had to sit in our car for nearly 2 hours because some inconsiderate motorist had parked his car right in the middle of the road behind our car, which was parked to one side. The children's train rail~track was on one side of the road and a small wall on the other and a locked gate in front, there was no way out. Four times over the loudspeakers an appeal was made for the driver of the silver Toyota Corolla, Registration Number 812 278Z to move his car. Eventually, near 1 am, five strong young men hearing the appeal, came to our rescue and they rocked and bounced the offending car to one side to enable us to get out. Thank you to them for their kind help Hopefully the owner of the car will read this and be more considerate when parking in future.

HELP! HEDGEHOGS IN TROUBLE
When did you last see a hedgehog? Chances are it was a very long time ago. They used to be a common sight in our gardens during summer, but because they suffer from diseases like cancer and herpes, they are now rare to the point of being almost endangered in Zimbabwe.
Lisa Hywood of the Tikki Hywood Trust for Endangered Species in Harare is looking for hedgehogs for her breeding scheme. Like all the Trust's animals, they will be kept in ideal conditions and under constant supervision. And when they are old enough, the hoglets will be released back into the wild.
Please ONLY feed the hedgehog on raw meat (pet mince will do) and finely chopped vegetables and only up to 10% of his weight. Pro nutro, milk, cheese and bread etc. are dangerous for them. They are not called hogs for nothing - they love food and will eat themselves silly (and sick) if they get the chance.

A lovely big tabby cat was found at Qalisa on 19 September 07 and was taken to the spca. This beautiful cat is crying desperately for it's family and home. Please, please if this is your cat collect it today, it's so confused.
Whilst at the spca I had the pleasure of meeting some of the wonderful dogs and some really cute kittens - all of which have a lot of love to offer and deserve good homes. Times are very hard but can't we take on just one more pet? Please consider it.

I am writing to you because we have found a little toy pom puppy. It was found in Coghlan Avenue in Kumalo by a young man who walked up and down Coghlan avenue knocking on doors looking for the owner, to no avail. My husband brought the little puppy home - she is not more than 2 months old, and obviously very well cared for and fat! She is the same colouring as a chow, and very sweet! Someone must be desperately looking for her.
