NEWS FLASH 5 BULAWAYO PUBLICITY ASSOCIATION
The Annual General Meeting of the Bulawayo Publicity Association will be held on WEDNESDAY 1 August at 5.30 p.m. The Guest Speaker is Mr G Pasi, Zimra Commissioner General. He will be talking, amongst other issues, on the border post and the developments taking place there. Members will be receiving a copy of the AGM Report for the year ended 30 June 2007 as well as an invitation to attend the Annual General Meeting in due course. For your information, Statutory Instrument No 80a of 2007 is available and costs $2 000 from the Government Printers in Manchester and J Chinamano Roads and lists payments to be made on the importation of certain luxury goods.
The Bulawayo water supply situation is really serious as you know and consumers are asked to report water bursts to 60408,65573 or 77331, 72161. The Acting Town Clerk has informed the Association that the Central Business District will not be affected by the water cuts. The schedule for the different suburbs was printed in the Sunday News of 10 June.
Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission & Distribution Company has announced that customers wishing to receive their bills by e-mail should send an e-mail to ebills@zedc. co.zw The e- mails should contain the following line below in the given order:- Account Number, Account Name, E-mail Address, Cellphone Number, Region
These fields should be separated by a comma in your e-mail. Members of the the Bulawayo tourist industry who attended the Indaba travel show in Durban in May were very pleased with the interest shown in Zimbabwe this year, particularly Victoria Falls and Hwange, with some interest in safari lodges in the Matopos.
SA Airlink has introduced a thrice weekly service from Johannesburg to Harare. The airline has also started in daily flights to Lusaka from Johannesburg on a same-day return basis. This might be of interest to some Bulawayo business people.
For those of you who are not aware of this ruling, Zimbabwe passengers spending more than the maximum of 30 days in the United Kingdom, will be required to pay for their tickets in foreign currency.
National Parks increased their accommodation charges and entry fees for Zimbabwe residents in April. The entrance fee into the Matopos for an adult is now Z$30 000 and Z $15 000 for a child plus Z$5 000 for the car. We would advise people wishing to visit the Park to check with National Parks in Bulawayo - Tel: 63646/65592 beforehand, as fees are subject to change without due notice. Unfortunately, the Bulawayo Publicity Association is unable to give the increased fees when they come into force, as they themselves only learn about the changes after the event.
The Railway Museum in Prospect Avenue, Raylton is having a major cleanup. The hours of opening are Monday to Friday 7.00 a.m to 4 p.m. and Saturday & Sundays 7.00 a.m to 5 p.m. and entry charge is Z$1000 for adults and Z$500 for children.
The Association with regret and reluctantly, will be increasing its membership subscription for the half year July to December 2007. Please keep this thought in mind - if the Association is unable through financial constraints to put Bulawayo on the Map as it would like to do you are also the losers. We provide a valuable service to the community and we need to support each other.
UPDATE ON CREMATORIUM
The position is that the Bulawayo Cremator requires a complete overhaul The necessary materials have been sourced in South Africa and have been paid for by the Beit Trust
The Bulawayo community is trying to raise the funds for the following which are not covered by the Trust's donation:
1 transport of materials from SA to Bulawayo
2 payment of various import duties
3 payment (in Rand) of the air fares for the specialists who will oversee the refurbishment
4 payment of hotel accommodation, transport etc for these specialists for the duration of their stay
At the moment the materials are still in SA as we are trying to negotiate the best possible transport rates I'm afraid that the whole process is taking far longer than we anticipated and, although we have raised some local funds, the Rand aspect is still far short of what is required. As you are no doubt aware, the business community here is battered and shell shocked and their own survival is uppermost in their minds. However, once the materials are in Bulawayo we intend to launch a further appeal for funds in the hope that once it can be seen that progress is being made, purse strings may become somewhat less tight
As far as the diesel fuel is concerned, as indicated above, it is still early days.

My fathers name is Orbit Moyo or he was known as Robert Moyo. He should be around mid 40's. He was in the united Kingdom in a town called Middlesborough. He was studying at the Teesside Polytechnic college which is now known as the University of Teesside. He was studying accountancy/ I.T. He was over in the UK in 1983/1984. He had a best friend called Bruno. That's all i know I'm afraid as my mother can't remember the town he was from.

LOST RELATIVE
I found your web site quite by chance whilst trying to locate a "lost" relative and I was wondering if you could assist me in any way. I was raised in Bulawayo until the age of 16 and left for South Africa with my mother and step father (Afrikaaner) in 1978 - much to my mother's chagrin as she absolutely loved and still loves Zimbabwe. My parents divorced when I was 9 and my father remarried a woman called Severine (not sure of her former name) who was divorced from my father a few years later - they had 2 sons. Thereafter she married a farmer with the surname Barry and that is how I came to find your site. I typed in Severine Barry and a woman with her name appeared on your site selling oak furniture.
The reason I would like to try and get hold of her is that I am trying to locate my father and Severine's son and my half brother whom I have not seen since we were children. His name is Michael and I have been trying to locate him with no luck - I am not sure that he is in Zimbabwe any more but this would be a start. Is it possible for you to enquire as to whether she has a son called Michael. I am not sure whether Michael even remembers me as he was little when I last saw him, but I would love to make contact now - he must be about 34 years old now. His little brother Spencer, passed away when he was very young and my only sibling (sister) died from leukaemia 3 years ago, so we may be the only siblings left.
If you can help at all I would really appreciate it.

I went to school in Zimbabwe in a small town now known as Kadoma, and was in the same class as a brilliant student by the name of Jackie Stone. As most of us left and went to different countries after school we lost touch although there was never any doubt Jackie would go on to do something brilliant.
I would love to get in touch with her again. I found you website which mentioned thanks to Dr Jackie Stone in Dubai, so if it's the same person I would be very grateful if you would help us re-acquaint.
