We are looking for help in all areas. Its a beautiful big Suburbs house that requires alot of work in and out, the garden, plants, grass, fixing the borehole pump, swimming pool, wall, gate, etc etc .. THATCH PALACE
Note to any travellers South : I drove my parents to a family get- together in Swaziland last year. My Dad navigated & many a father- daughter screeching match ensued as he reckoned I didn't follow his instructions properly whilst I claimed it impossible to follow instructions from an out-of-date-map (eg. Go straight at a t- junction!) Consequently, we ended up stopping at some very odd & overpriced places for breaks, meals and even overnight. So, we were all delighted to agree that the 'Thatch Palace" just outside Pietersberg was the perfect stop-over. As only quick stop, we shared room - each had a double bed with reading lights etc. in large room with separate dressing area and usual TV & coffee/tea maker etc. Food was good & cheap & service very pleasant. We all reckoned it was the "Hilton" of the trip (& cheapest) but my folks were particularly impressed with the value-for-money basics - that from seasoned travellers whose next trip includes an Alaskan cruise! This recommendation is only from personal experience and particularly for Zimbos, due limited forex/value, as overnight stay - certainly wouldn't suggest it as a holiday destination! (R.H.)

ZIMRA has published a new notice and apology to the effect that the Carbon Tax fees announced for visiting motorists are in fact annual fees and not monthly fees (as was suspected and despite initial confirmation received from ZIMRA).
The correct payments due for a 30 day period, or part thereof, are as follows:-
Up to 1500 cc US$6
1501 cc - 2000 cc US$11
2001 cc - 3000 cc US$15
3001 cc and above US$30

LOS ANGELES - Scientists say they have confirmed that a so-called 10th planet discovered last year is bigger than Pluto, but that likely won't quell the debate over what makes a planet. It has the dubious name of UB 313 !!
The astronomers who spotted the icy, rocky body - informally called UB313 - had reported only a rough estimate of its size based on its brightness.
But another group of researchers has come up with what is believed to be the first calculation of UB313's diameter.
By measuring how much heat it radiates, German scientists led by Frank Bertoldi of the University of Bonn estimated that UB313 was about 1,864 miles across. That makes it larger than Pluto, which has a diameter of about 1,429 miles.
"It is now increasingly hard to justify calling Pluto a planet if UB313 is not also given this status," Bertoldi said in a statement.

Shame, we remember him with his glass of wine, more of which went through his mouth rather than cooking with it, and those large black framed glasses of his, and I was only about 6 when he was on TV here! To add to your 'hold onto your nuts' We were told by a South African motorist that they had to pay a fine for a bird that had flown into their roof rack and obviously been killed. The Cop at the road block on the Kariba Road gave them a long speel about not being allowed to kill wild life in Zimbabwe and they would have to pay a fine!!!!!! They eventually were basically forced to part with presumably a bribe I guess next it will be the grasshoppers etc that get caught in the front grill which will cause us to part with the ever increasing fines

ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS
We have been involved in the investigations of road accidents for many years, whilst in the BSAP, and after for Insurance companies. It is remarkable how the general public, having been involved in an accident, accept the findings, of investigations, which at the very best can only be described as inadequate.
