Subject: FAKE $20 000.00 BEARER NOTES IN CIRCULATION

Kindly note that there are fake $20 000 bearer cheques in circulation. The fake notes have all other features found on the normal/original note with only the exception being the fake notes have one check letter for example: K1066586 instead of having two check letters e.g. CR8622998. The other notable feature is the omission of the RBZ letters which are not embedded on the Zimbabwe bird watermark.

Dear All,
Thought I would let you know we have been busy recycling. I have found "freecycle.org", where you can recycle your unwanted goods. It apparently started in America, and if you have a Yahoo Account you can let rid of your unwanted items and pick up what you are looking for in your Area, Worldwide.Whether its a chair, fax machine, piano or pile of books, curtains, kitchen equipment you can join in the fun as long as there is no money involved.
So far we have acquired clothes, shoes, picture frames, computer equipment, kitchen items and Scott has got a Beginners Lace Making Set. Why don't you give it a try.
Love, Jane.

Q: How many women with PMS does it take to change a light bulb?

A: One!!! ONLY ONE!!!! And do you know WHY?
Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!! They'd sit there in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out!! And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the light bulbs despite the fact they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD for the past 13 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle of God, actually find the bulbs 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!!!!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER THE STUPID LIGHT BULBS CAME IN!!! BECAUSE NO ONE EVER CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE!!!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE THAT ARE A FOOT DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE!! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS DAMNED HOUSE!
I'm sorry. What was your question?

Barbara Burrell Centre for the Blind

The Home have several expensive but urgent needs. If anyone can help in any way, please contact either Jill Osborne at 246688 or Judy Owens at 252678. The Home was burgled several months ago and all our gardening tools, including wheelbarrow, fork, spade, rake and axe were stolen. The vacuum cleaner is beyond repair and passed on to the scrap heap, and, most urgently of all, our submersible borehole pump has burned out. With water rationing, it is essential that we have the borehole working.

The Old Age Homes are only surviving because of the wonderful support of the already over stretched public, and we understand that any further requests for assistance might be pushing our luck, but with nowhere else to turn, if anybody is able to help in any way, we would be forever grateful.

CRIME AWARENESS
BULAWAYO UPDATE written and compiled by Tracey Burns 12/08/05
British Statesman in the 18th Century - Edmunde Burke said
"The only thing necessary for evil to truimph is for good men to do nothing."

Well done must go again to the police in arresting a gang in Queenspark area - the same gang who had hit Jaggers at the beginning of the year, released on bail and had attacked a family in Suburbs just recently. Lets hope that these men will NOT be given bail at all again, as you can imagine how disheartening it is for the police to have to recatch these terrible criminals again and again. I hope the powers that be will sentence them to life! Sounds hard, but think of what the victims have had to go through and this gang will not be shy in killing someone in the not to distant future if released again.

FUEL TRICKS
The latest is, people being followed from various border posts who have drums on the back of their vehicles. The criminals sometimes follow them right up to the victim's home, then hijack the vehicle with the fuel on the back and leave the victim with nothing. Has anyone found out the name of the guy who supposedly works for our local oil company, that has conned so many people out of money? Please inform me if you have his name.

LATEST INCIDENCES
A family were held up at 20:10 hours after 11 armed men entered the property by removing 2 panels out of a durawall, and walking straight into the home. To have so many men around and have one delegating to the others, tells us that this was a gang in training with the youngsters that belonged to it. Thankfully no one was hurt, but a great deal was stolen along with the vehicle. The vehicle was found later during the week.
Another businessman was hit over his head with the butt of a weapon as he had opened his boot of his car. The criminals pushed him into the boot and drove off through a very secure townhouse complex, through the boom and when the victim thought he was going to be harmed, managed to get out of the boot whilst the car was still in motion. A few shots were fired at him, and missed thank goodness.
The trauma that victims suffer from incidences is terrible and sometimes the victims push it to the back of their mind only to rear its ugly head either a few months or years later, and worse to deal with. I strongly suggest that victims seek even a shoulder to cry on and talk about the incident. DON'T bottle it up. I am here to help you.

HOUSEHOLD SECURITY - Quality Locks
- Most homes are fitted with lever locks - in the 2,3, or 4 lever varieties. Keys to these locks can be bought from local hardware stores (in SA) or cut at key smiths. There are a maximum of 24 different keys for the 2 lever, 36 for the 3 lever and 48 for the 4 lever. Lever locks should therefore be avoided unless they are of the five or six liver high security type, which are considerably more expensive.
- A cylinder-type mortice lock which is operated with a "Yale-type" key, which fits into a lock cylinder is the best. These can be 'keyed' alike by a locksmith (enabling you to have one key for the whole house) or master-keyed (different keys for each lock, and a master key to suit the lot).
- To keep existing door locks and handles, a cylinder mortice deadlock can be fitted either above or below the existing lock. Avoid the temptation to fit cylinders which have an interior thumbturn as this provides a handy form of exit for a burglar.
- All external doors should be similarly fitted with strong mortice locks, particularly those in the more secluded parts of the house, such as a door leading from a carport or garage.
- The common "Yale" or night latch type of lock is inherently weak, and should be avoided because the latch bolt can be forced back with wire or a credit card. The only really safe night latches are those of the dead-locking variety.
- Double doors (where both parts of the door open) are a particular danger because they are usually fitted, top and bottom, with surface mounted barrel bolts. If a burglar should enter the house, or break a glass pane, these bolts are easily opened. Overcome this by fitting, top and bottom, flush bolts which are concealed in the edge of the door when locked.
- Always consult a reputable locksmith who is qualified to give good advice. Remember, the better the locks used, the more secure your home will be.

CONTACTS FOR.....
I have contacts for the following reliable companies/individuals to install or go to:
- Wrought Iron / Burglar Bars and Fences and Electric Fences
- Self Defence Classes - vital for any woman living in Zimbabwe - helps you when you go overseas too!!
- Interior and Exterior Alarms
Just contact me and I will give you all the necessary details.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLES
The famous red Mazda 323 is still around, chasing people all over Bulawayo. Keep very alert. Another car that is around at present is a silver car that people have identified as a Mazda or Sentra. If you are followed, please drive to your nearest police station or road block and inform the police of what is happening.

APPEAL
Fuel is desperately needed - I need to visit the victims or see the police on behalf of the victim. Money is needed in order to help pay a little salary towards myself and office expenses. This is my full time job and am willing to do a flexible job from home to earn a little extra cash that is needed. Please help wherever you possibly can, as every cent helps our survival and I still want to give it back to victims who need some financial support, especially those who need taxi fairs or help in medical after their horrendous ordeal.

WATCHERS
There are a great deal of vehicles being stolen from homes at all hours of the day and night. I would like to suggest to those who would like to offer their services of being a "watcher" in their particular suburb or route to work, that they get in touch with me with their full name, address and phone number who I could then phone and if a car has been stolen in that particular area, then I can contact that person who could then look out for it. I have the maps so can plot a radius and the "watchers" could just look out for it. If you are interested in helping each other, and help these poor people get their only cars back, get in touch with me. All details are confidential and if you are not interested in contacting the police, when you have located a vehicle, just phone me and I will deal with the police directly.

SUPPORT GROUP
Please keep the third Tuesday of every month free at 2:00 pm, for the support group if you are a victim of hijacking, attempted hijack and house robberies. We are there for each other and we do not charge victims who contact us for care-giving. So please call me to confirm you are attending. The service is all free, that is why we depend on the public and private sectors to help us survive.

Is your son or daughter having difficulty with A Level Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry?

Do the A Level classes contain 30 students rather than 10? Classes this size do not allow for much individual help.

If so, I can coach your son or daughter in the above subjects, having had 35 years experience teaching these subjects. I take only one student at a time, which ensures that the student has individual attention and help.

I also offer computer courses in MS Windows operating system, MS Word word processing, MS Excel spreadsheet, MS Access database, MS Project Project Design, desk top publishing, AutoCAD computer aided design, MS Outlook Express e-mail, Internet browsing and search, Corel Draw, Corel PhotoPaint graphic design and digital photography. Wanted
Reasonable condition Mk III or Mk IV Cortina pickup (P100), Ford Cortina station wagon, or Ford Sierra station wagon body.

Basically my car, (or should I say my wife's car was written off yesterday in a traffic accident). It is a Ford Capri Mk III with a 2 litre pinto engine in it. As the engine appears to be in one piece I need another body to put the Capri's engine in. As one can appreciate, this is a bit of a financial disaster as most of us are under- insured and to acquire insurance payouts from the guilty 3rd party will take some considerable time. I therefore hope someone can help me out with a sensibly priced vehicle.

Failing acquiring the above:- Wanted Reasonably priced and condition pickup single cab with canopy if possible. Regarding above, please contact Howard Sellick on 245546 or 011 418007
