For those of you who need a returning resident stamp stamped in your
passport by immigration, be warned that there is an male official who
sometimes is at the counter and charges for stamping your passport.
He charges between $100,000.00 and $110,000.00 per passport. Today a
friend
was caught and paid the money over and did not get a receipt for it.
Later
on confirming this was illegal he went back to the immigration office
and
confronted the person in his office where upon the official opened a
drawer
full of cash and gave him his money back.

forward and he is compatible with Lal. What a miracle! We are

Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage

Porky - (Chipangali's very own Pumba)
Porky first came to Chipangali in December last year, as a tiny
baby, found stranded on the roadside, tragically separated from her
mom. Initially she was difficult to handle (but so it is with all
warthogs) but she soon settled, due to trusting her instincts and
allowing Claire to help her out. Since then Porky has become one of
the more famous and most loved orphans here at the orphanage.
When we first found Porky, she was only a waif of a thing, barely
reaching the
1kg mark, 7 months later however, she is anything but, at a whopping
21.5kg she is
clearly living up to her namesake of being a porky little pig!!!
No Name the Barn Owl.
'No-Name' is a barn owl who was bought to us as a scruffy ball of fluff
no bigger than the size of your hand. From the very beginning No-Name
became a part of the furniture in Claire's room as she became his
'mother' from day one. With an appetite surpassing even Porky's
he grew from a tiny fluff ball into a large magnificent creature.
A squirrel was being hand-reared at the same time as No-Name and it was
a constant struggle to keep this little defenceless thing from No-Names
natural instinct to eat anything that moves! From being completely
immobile and unable to move on his own, he soon became a master of the
skies as well as ruthless and diligent hunter; Claire's socks were
never safe. Nor were her feet, even, in the middle of the night, at
even the slightest movement he would come swooping down from the roof
beams and crash land onto his prey (feet, hands, lips, eyes).

ANTI HIJACK TRUST
This month has been quiet for the Trust, but if you have heard of any
incidences regarding muggings, attempted/hijackings, house robberies,
please ask those involved to contact me, not only for caregiving
(unless they don't require it), but also for me to keep a record of the
statistics.
Please be aware of the following:
- A cream coloured Nissan Sunny with the registration number
starting
749 (the rest indistinguishable), around the Famona and Hillcrest
area. One lady was followed and realised what was happening so
managed
to escape.
- A white Toyota Cressida driven around with one white man, with
longish blonde hair and 2 black men. They have been seen observing
homes at around 02:00 - 04:00 hours in the Fortunes Gate area.
If you see these two cars and are followed or they are hanging around
your area, please report it immediately to the police that you are
suspicious about their activities.
- If you notice men carrying road signs around and they are not in
BCC overalls or in BCC trucks, please also report them to the police,
as I am sure you don't want our Beautiful Bulawayo to become like
Harare without Road signs anywhere!
Christmas is coming upon us fast, and have you made plans who will look
after your home whilst you are away? Herewith is a holiday check list
before you leave:
1. Cancel deliveries or switch with a neighbour.
2. Arrange to have your letter box emptied daily.
3. Ask your neighbour to watch your home.
4. Inform your Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator if you are involved
with them.
5. See that someone has your contact address.
6. Pay the electricity and rates account for the period of your
absence.
7. Store all valuables safely.
8. Lock windows, garage and outhouses.
9. Set Alarm or inform house sitter how to use it, giving them a
separate pin code.
10. Lock doors and gates.
11. Try and organise a day-night switch for your outside lights to
go on at a certain time.
12. Have a timer on one of your inside lights to switch on and off
at a time you prefer.
13. Do not advise too many people of your absence, even beforehand.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a "Joy filled

everyone of you who has helped in any way, no matter how small you may
think you have helped, I can honestly tell you, I appreciate it a great
deal.

Request For Financial Assistance
The Margaret Fox Trust had been established in an effort to raise
funds for an operation and procedures that Margaret must have done,
which cannot be carried out in Zimbabwe.
Margaret's problems started several years ago when a growth on her
nose which she had previously had burnt off, eventually turned into
ulcerous cancer caused from the sun. In 2003 they operated on her nose,
cutting a part of the right side away and covering it with a flap. She
then went for what should have been 6 weeks of radiation therapy in
Harare but the machine kept breaking down and the treatment dragged on
for 3 months.
Unfortunately the skin cancer came back and the Plastic Surgeon in
Harare was forced to remove the whole right part of Margaret's nose. It
was hoped they had got all the cancer but it has now come back and as
nothing more can be done for Margaret in Zimbabwe, she was referred to
a specialist Nose Surgeon at Morningside Clinic in Sandton,
Johannesburg. After examination and several tests, the Doctor's
diagnosis was that further surgery is necessary and that Margaret would
not be a good candidate for reconstruction given her previous history.
Instead, the Doctor suggests a Prosthetic nose be made.
Obviously, this is all very expensive and right now it appears it
will
cost approximately R75000.00. Without this operation, Margaret's
condition will definitely deteriorate and the cancer will spread to the
bone of her face, tear duct and ultimately her brain. Her quality of
life at present has also been severely affected - Margaret feels self
conscious going out in public and before this sewed, knitted and read a
lot, but now she cannot wear her glasses as they put too much pressure
on her nose.
Margaret is trying to apply on the Auction to obtain the foreign
currency needed but we all know there are no guarantees and many
delays.
