Second-hand Clothing
King George VI Centre is asking for good quality second hand clothing
to give to our children this Christmas.
We used to receive donations from the Children's Gift Clothing but for
the past few years this organisation has not been able to assist us.
We now have 180 children ranging from 4 to 18 years old and will
struggle to find clothing for them all for their annual present.
We would also welcome any kitchen items for our independent living
units. If you are leaving the country and have some oddments you cant sell
please think of us.

Union Golf Day
Children of today are the workforce, leaders, parents and the nation of
tomorrow. Scripture Union, an interdenominational Christian
organisation works with young people from all backgrounds regardless of religion,
race, creed or gender. We have the following programmes that are
positively impacting Zimbabwe's young people;
1. HIV / Aids Life-skills Seminars: These Choose Freedom and Adventure
Unlimited seminars conducted in Primary and Secondary schools equip
young people for better decision-making and right choices in life.
2. Positive Peer Pressure Clubs & Camps: We run SU groups in our
Primary and Secondary schools. The clubs meet weekly and play a key role in
the life of the school, influencing Christian moral values and
promoting respect and responsible behaviour among the young people. We also
run inter-school camps.
3. Themba leNtandane Extended Family Orphan Care Project: This
Scripture Union project supports children that have been orphaned largely
through HIV / AIDS. We help orphaned children while in their extended
families within the Makokoba, Mzilikazi and Nguboyenja suburbs of Bulawayo.
We are currently working with about 200 orphans aged 6 to 18 assisting
them with school fees, medication and psychosocial support.
4. Thuthuka Street Children Project: This is a Scripture Union project
whose goal is the rehabilitation of street children. We meet the basic
needs of street children, reuniting them with their families so that
they can reach their full potential as independent individuals. We
provide psychosocial support to the children and their families.
The success of the above activities lies heavily on having adequate
funding. As part of its fundraising efforts, Scripture Union is
organizing a Golf Day at Harry Allen Golf Club on 30 October. We kindly invite
you to participate in the fundraising activities for the above
activities through sponsorship of the Golf Day. Sponsorship can be in the form
of;

MUSIC
October sees the return of NOKUTHULA NGWENYAMA, the outstanding
young American violinist whose father came from right here in Bulawayo. Yes,
violinist! Nokuthula has taken up the violin as well as the viola and
it is the former instrument that she will be bringing to Zimbabwe for
this visit. She was last here for the 2001 Bulawayo Music Festival but
her career has advanced by leaps and bounds since then and she has
performed extensively throughout the United States with appearances at the
White House and with several major orchestras including the Atlanta,
Baltimore and Indianapolis Symphonies, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and
the National Symphony Orchestra. The Washington Post commented that she
'plays beautifully, with dazzling technique in the virtuoso fast
movements and deep expressiveness in the slow movements'.
Nokuthula plays perhaps the most famous piece of classical music of
them all, Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, with the Bulawayo Philharmonic
Orchestra conducted by Corrado Trinci on Saturday 23 October at 8.15 p.m.
The following Tuesday, 26 October at 7.30 p.m., she plays sonatas
by Grieg and Fauré as well as music by Coleridge-Taylor and Kreisler in
recital with Jeanette Micklem.
Both concerts take place in the Robert Sibson Hall at the Zimbabwe
Academy of Music and booking for both is at Meikles.

With your friends she is okay but dare let anybody unwelcome try to
invade and she will
not like this.
Unfortunately for no given reason she is now fighting with my 2 year
old Staffy and 11 year old Jack Russell and is chasing our cat.
Needs to go to where there is lots of love and attention BUT no other
animals.
