We the Management, Instructors and Staff at Muscles and Curves would
like to thank you all for your kind support in the “HELP THE ELDERLY’
drive for the month of June, with both monetary and grocery goods which
have included potatoes, tomatoes, eggs, sweets, biscuits, oranges, soup
powders and sugar. We made up 30 parcels of the perishables and
distributed them to those on the “SOAP”( Support Old Aged Pensioners)
list at coronation cottages. Those who received the packages were so
grateful; (even though the package was small) it was worth the time and
effort just to see the appreciation on their faces.
We have raised $ 2 000 000.00 ( two million) in cash.
This cash was handed over to SOAP, who does a wonderful job in caring
for our old aged pensioners.
Thank you all again and again for all your support and warm concern for
the elderly; we hope that you will be generous next month and for as
long as we are able on a monthly basis.

look at it as many have asked to be anonymous.

venues of interest on the third Sunday of every month, from 10.00am
until about 11.30am. Speakers are invited to speak on a vareity of
subjects, not always gardening, so subjects are varied but interesting.

fee or become members if they so wish. Tea is served before the

INFORMATION SNIP
The Fund for the Terminally Ill was created by The Bulawayo 100 years
Celebrations Committee with a starting grant, and is now 10 years old.
It is a welfare fund that assists people in Bulawayo who are being
nursed through a terminal illness without adequate food for warmth.
The working committee - B.U.T.I.C. - is composed of representatives
from Bulawayo Island Hospice, Matabeleland Aids Council and City
Health, as well as fundraisers headed by Irane Sohaili. The
distributions is done by two part-time Field-Workers. Trustees
supervise the financial affairs.
Street collections have been held and donations have come from Service
Clubs, churches and individuals. In September an appeal is sent out to
business houses so that patients can receive a little extra at
Christmas.

THOUGHTS FROM ABROAD
Much celebrating going on in our household. Jodie won a silver medal,
only 5 points behind the winner, in Germany at the European
Championships at the weekend. There were over two hundred of Europe's
top divers from 26 different countries all fighting for a place in the
next World Championships in Brazil this coming October. Jodie was, and
still is, suffering from a stress injury in her lower back so to have
achieved what she did is no mean feat. We went over there to support
her. There were eight sets of parents from the UK with only our Jodie
winning a silver, there were a couple of bronze medal winners but only
one silver! The best diving country by miles was the Ukraine with the
Russians, Italians, Swedes and Greeks putting on a reasonable show.
Jodie will be competing in Brazil and has now secured herself a place
in the British Junior Olympic Programme with the Beijing Olympics in
mind. It takes a number of years build up in order to reach the
required standard so keep your fingers crossed, although she doesn't
need luck as she has earned it with her hard work and
determination.........just like her dad. Otherwise as a family we are
well. We are moving to a flat in Wimbledon at the end of this month so
its all go.
