4) Condolences/In Memoriam/Wreath Funds ED BEETEN, 11th May 1935 to 17th May 2021, passed away peacefully at home in Brakpan, South Africa. Ed lived on Dunblane Road in Bulawayo between 1990 and 1996, he ran the tackle shop at Mac's garage across from the Municipal Buildings, and he and Amy were the caretakers of Msuna for a spell. He was a keen fisherman and enjoyed spinning for Tiger as much as spinning a yarn, reflected in his time as editor of the Bulawayo Light Tackle Club monthly newsletter "Tight Lines". He was a handyman and a tinkerer, and reused everything, especially his jokes. Ed is survived by his children Melanie and Jeremy (SA), grandchildren Dayne, Russell, Justine (SA), Bridget and Clifford (UK), and adoring great-grandchildren Eddie, Max, Jake, Anna, Sophie and Lucy (UK). Rest in Peace "Punchie", with love from the Beetens, Sears' and Fouries. Margaret Bernard One of Bulawayo's ever delightful colourful characters. Margaret was devoted to animals and had run the very successful Pet Hilton Kennels and Cattery for as long as one can remember. We will miss you as will the many causes you supported. R.I.P MARGIE BERNARD We are very sad to announce the passing on June 11 of Margaret Bernard in Bulawayo. She had been struggling with a serious illness for quite a long time. She was brave at all times and sadly after a bad fall at home succumbed. A very well known icon of Bulawayo. Her love of animals was her life. Margie, a noteworthy equestrian in her early years, was a stalwart supporter of all creatures, working at the SPCA for many year as a volunteer and finally as its Chairperson. She owned Pet Hilton and was a quiet presence in the Bulawayo community, never seeking the limelight but always working to serve those who could not speak up for themselves. She will be sadly missed. MHDSRIP Zimbabwe Equestrian Federation - Matabeleland Branch Margie Bernard Our dear Margie has left us... What a force of nature she was! Fiery, bold, kind, generous.... A lady who grabbed life with both hands and lived it to its fullest. Since she moved to Zimbabwe in the 60s her life has been nothing short of extraordinary. She always said how blessed she was to have lived the life she did and to have enjoyed so many wonderful experiences. Margie had 2 big passions in life - horses and tennis! She joined the horse society in the 70s and played an active role on the committee for many of those years. She played polo-cross, did dressage and show jumping, even a little cross country, and was both a showjumping and dressage judge, only recently (and reluctantly) stepping back from helping at shows when her health deteriorated. Margie was an institution within an institution and has left behind a beautiful legacy - she was always the life and soul of every event she attended! Everything this magnificent woman did was done enthusiastically and with gusto. We have lost such a special member of our little community but we will always cherish her in our memories. RIP Margie, you are so loved ROY HOGAN Our sincere condolences to the family of Roy Hogan. A highly respected member of the Bulawayo community. He will be always be remembered for his gentlemanly behaviour and his sportsmanship and skills as a member of both Old Miltonians and Bulawayo Country Club. Rip in peace Roy.
