4) Condolences/In Memoriam/Wreath Funds Kay Hyndman died in N. Ireland at the age of 91 on April 6th. Kay will probably be remembered by nurses and staff who trained and worked at Umtali General Hospital and Bulawayo Central Hospital from the late 1950's until 1981. Kay was a well-respected and sometimes feared sister in charge of Forrester Ward for the majority of those years. After training in N. Ireland in the 1940's, Kay moved to England where she worked before joining the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corp and saw service in Singapore and Malaya. In 1958 Kay emigrated to Rhodesia as did many others from the UK and Eire - known as the 'Sunshine girls'. After retiring from Government service in 1981, Kay moved to Harare to work as surgery sister for surgeon Mr Pim Fleming. Kay decided to return to be with her family in Northern Ireland in 1999. Kay will be sadly missed by her family and friends in Ireland and many friends and colleagues in Zimbabwe who knew and will remember her as a dedicated nurse and good friend to many. Kay was a dear friend to the late Bertie and Mavis Young and Graeme, Maureen and Michael in Australia and Cape Town. Elaine Wayland Perhat passed away at the Barbara Burrell home for the blind on Saturday 11 April 2015. Condolences are sent to the staff at the home, A memorial service is to be held at the home on Tuesday 21 April at 10 am. Elaine suffered a stroke at the home 3 days after spending 2 months at Edith Duly with fractured a bone in her groin and then a second stroke on Easter Monday. D.C.Murray Sadly passed away in Cheshire, UK, Jason Scott Christie of Bulawayo, beloved husband of Angie (nee Gibbens) and father of Callum. Jason will be remembered by all his friends as full of life and laughter, with a mischievous smile and positive outlook on life. He will be sadly missed. CONDOLENCES / IN MEMORIAM ANTHONY EASTWOOD died peacefully in Harare (14 April 2015) beloved and respected uncle of Shaughn Forbes, Kevin Watson and Nicola Brown
5) Roses And Raspberries I am perturbed by the handling of drivers licenses by the police at roadblocks. Through no fault of their own the police man roadblocks in the middle of nowhere with no ablution facilities and no water to wash their hands. By the time you get to Harare/Vic Falls or wherever, I hate to think what has been transferred to the license. With the cholera outbreak, could the police not be asked to refrain from physically taking the license, once they check it is valid.
