I'll never forget you. Alan McChesney. David Michael Williams 19/03/1937 - 09/11/2014 Beloved father to Susan and Carol, grandfather to Kerin and Kendall. Sadly passed away in London on Sunday 9th November 2014, after 4 long hard years after suffering a massive stroke in May 2010. He was a very active member of Round Table 3 in the 1970's, and particularly loved driving the mini train in Centenary Park for those years. He also gave a lot of his spare time to his position as PRO for ARTSA promoting Round Table and the charities affiliated. He worked for the Bulawayo City Council in the Town Clerk's Department , and was a well-known personality at the Bulawayo Theatre Club. 5) Roses And Raspberries Raspberries to the shops in Bulawayo who cannot be bothered to send to the bank for small change on a daily basis. Including a large empire like Bathroom Boutique. I was handed to no less than three different salesmen, each one refusing to part with his precious, filthy dollars. The salesmen at BB are given one hundred dollars change per day. That's ridiculous for a busy cash- operated business, they had finished their change by 11 in the morning!! The only way I was able to complete my purchase was to rummage in my purse desperately so I could come up with the necessary amount!!

7) Bulawayo News HOCKEY ASSOCIATION OF ZIMBABWE AFRICA CUP OF CLUB CHAMPIONS (ACCC) -Bulawayo 2014 All is set for the hosting of the 2014 edition of the ACCC in Bulawayo from 22 to 30 November 2014 at the Khumalo Hockey Stadium. A record 20 teams from seven nations have confirmed and duly entered into the tournament which will run for nine days. The Hockey Association of Zimbabwe and the Local Organizing Committee are now ready to host the tournament. All the officials' appointments by Africa Hockey Federation (AfHF) have been concluded. The Tournament Director and Umpire's Manager are both from South Africa whilst all the Zimbabwean contingent of officials nominated have been appointed to officiate at the tournament. Ginny Ross will be the AfHF's representative, Sarah Bennett and Humphrey Chigwedere will be Technical Officers, Tafara Mukaro and Pauline Ndhlovu will be judges whilst Tapiwa Mafi, Bynn Lowe and Sharne Meyers will be umpires. All other nations are supposed to supply officials. The tournament will see 50 matches being played. Both ladies and men have been drawn into two pools with the classification matches set to be played on 30 November. Zimbabwe will be represented by BAC in the ladies whilst Eradicators and Hippo Valley will fly the flag in the men's category. All the teams are ready to take part in the tournament. South African Home Affairs takes action against child trafficking The border requirements are: - When parents travelled with a child they had to produce an unabridged birth certificate of the child reflecting the particulars of both parents; - In the case of one parent travelling with a child, in addition to producing an unabridged birth certificate, a consenting affidavit from the other parent had to be produced. - When a person travelled with a child who was not his/her biological child, they had to provide a copy of the child's unabridged birth certificate, a consenting affidavit from the parents/legal guardian, copies of the identity documents/passports of the parents/legal guardian, and their contact details. "These provisions form part of our international commitments to root out child-trafficking," RAIN CHATTER It's nearly time to start the dam & rainfall stats again. Some prelims: it looks as though we will end this year on approx 64-65% overall, which is 30% better than a year ago, so that is good news. There is also a very good chance that Insiza and Mtshabezi will spill again this season - Insiza will be on about 85% when the inflows start and 15% is not a lot of inflow in a whole season - average for a season is 40%, so even a relatively poor season will bring it to spilling or near spilling. Mtshabezi will be about 92% so should easily gain the necessary to spill. The aquifer refurbishment should also see an increase to the city from a daily average of 2000 m3/day to 6000 m3/day - not a lot in the whole scheme of things but it does take a bit of pressure off BCC's ability to maintain adequate supply/pressure in the Western Suburbs. The good thing going forward is that the three reasonably constant and reliable sources can supply about 70 000 m3/day - slightly more than 50% of our current needs and about 70% of our rationed needs in poor times - this makes for a much better scenario than that of the period 2011/12/13. There doesn't therefore seem to be any fear of water shedding for at least the next 3-4 years. We are actually better off then most large cities in Southern Africa. There speaketh the optimist! Peter Edmeades As a result of ZIMPACT's amazing growth since it's inception as well as the ever increasing demands, needs & areas of co-operation with like-minded organisations, the founding committee feels it would be prudent to establish various 'Portfolios' on the main committee (headed by a full committee member) & supported by sub-committees (which can be made up of a full committee member as well as ad-hoc volunteers from the ZIMPACT contacts database). Therefore, ZIMPACT is looking for help to develop in the following areas:- A) Education: 1. Ideally we would like to have a Zimpact representative at each of the private schools. A parent or teacher who can work with us. 2. We want to develop a campaign that can be put into all the schools nationwide on drunk and dangerous driving. This may extend to the use of other drugs. It is not necessary to have extensive knowledge of the subject but we do need to work with different organisations, gather information and present our final work in Shona, Ndebele and English. This will probably be a poster campaign so a strong visual message will be important. 3. To create a young ZIMPACT committee to discuss ideas with, to work with to create a greater awareness of drunk and dangerous driving and to drive a young cultural rejection of drunk and dangerous driving. B) Marketing: 1. Co-ordinate and design a marketing campaign that will cover newspapers, magazines, billboards, posters, radio, commercials for the cinema and editorial. 2. Work with events planning team, education team, merchandise team, social media etc to create a campaign that is cohesive, strong and dynamic. C) Events 'support' Volunteers are needed who can be contacted at the time of various events such as fairs, music festivals etc to see if they available at the time of the event to help committee members doing 'duty' time (for an hour or two) D) Technology (website, social media etc) To be the representative on the main committee who links, formulates & drives ZIMPACT'S website (content) & social media thrust. E) Event planning / PR / Press & Communication A representative is required on the main committee (who will have the support of a sub-committee) dealing with this portfolio. Additionally, further people are also required for this sub-committee due to the extensive nature of this portfolio. F) Alternative transport solutions This is one of the most critical portfolios where support is required by the main committee because whilst ZIMPACT continues to create awareness about drunk (& dangerous) driving, solutions / other options need to become available to successfully complete the change in mentality & behaviour. The other alternative transport options (to driving drunk!) are:- - Designated driver (it's your own choice & readily available!) - Pre-booked Shuttle services (ZIMPACT already endorses 3!) - 'Goodfellas/hire-a-driver' concept : being looked into - Reputable taxi service (as against pre-booked shuttle service ): being looked into G) Countrywide!
