Roses to the Conservancy team who have done such a great job making our neighbourhood park a beautiful, safe place to go with our dogs and kids. K.M. Bulawayo Help Network would like to thank the public for the generous donations of groceries and money recived from our Christmas appeal. The Hungry Mouths Tins raised $2066-00, from this. $100-00 each was donated to Ralstein House, Ekuphumuleni Home and Entembeni House for Christmas lunches. All these homes were most grateful as they could give there residents something different. The rest of the money went towards buying groceries for our Christmas hampers. The groceries which were donated plus those bought by us made up 50 hampers for pensioners. Once again, we would like to thank the public for their generous donations. 7) Bulawayo News THE Bulawayo City Council has scrapped water shedding with immediate effect after the city's six supply dams received significant inflows. In an interview yesterday, Bulawayo's Mayor Councillor Martin Kizak Moyo said an official announcement on the decision was likely to be made tomorrow. "We have received water equal to about 10 percent of the supply dams' combined capacity in six days, from Tuesday. The dams are now about 56 percent full, compared to about 43, 1 percent when shedding commenced on 27 July 2012," said Moyo. I am looking for potato seedlings in Bulawayo. Cynthia Louw 4:13pm Jan 29 I would like send a letter to my local councillor detailing a whole screed of questions about council bye-laws and other various issues with regard to living in a council regulated area. My hope is to arrange a public meeting with residents in my area (with the help of ZDDT), together with lands inspectorate, police, zesa, tel-one and bcc representatives in order to "educate" residents on the rules and regulations they are bound by, and to confirm issues with the parties mentioned. I have a whole list of things following meetings with council and lands inspectorate and I invite other members of the public to send me suggestions of what they would like covered. I also invite you to do the same in your ward. Please I don't wish a whole lot of comments as I am compiling a letter and don't wish to take up too much time on BNB, but I know that there are more intelligent people out there who may think of things I never did. I do believe things are changing and I do wish for many of my neighbours to be more "informed" of what they can and can't do. For instance, it is illegal to burn anything on your property. It is not useful to continue complaining. ZDDT have been doing various workshops with the new Councillors, and I was informed by Council that the Councillors are given an annual budget to hold regular meetings with constituents. My other hope is that other wards will do the same with their councillors. Come on Bulawayo, lets not be inactive any more. Lets help one another and ensure people are more informed.
