A couple of rumour's have circulated, regarding Food Lover's Market that we feel need some clarification. Firstly, there was no armed robbery that took place. An altercation between our guards and a gentleman who wanted to park in our trolley bay, resulted in the aforementioned gentleman producing a firearm. This was the reason why the alarm went off at the centre , and the gates were momentarily closed. We apologise for the inconvenience in this regard. It is now a police case. Secondly, it has been suggested that Food Lover's Market are in some way responsible for the food stands being banned at the centre, this was a Heath Department directive which was in no way influenced or supported by ourselves. Travellers Guest Lodge in Banff Road near Hillside Dams has an ongoing revamping programme and has recently received very comfortable new beds and bedding for their rooms. The lodge has now employed a cook to provide breakfasts and dinners. On the subject of Hillside Dams, an Adventure Sports Festival is to be held there over the weekend 7th and 8th December. This will include rock climbing, canoeing, horse trails and other macho activities. There will also be entertainment for the whole family even toddlers, with music and art at the dam's amphitheatre. The Bulawayo Public Library offers this facility to young and old at very low subscription rates. It was started in 1896, the first library in this country. It is funded by subscriptions, a small grant in aid from the City Council and donations of books from international libraries. The library building contains a children's library, a Braille library, EU and USA funded sections which are mainly educational advisory centres offering free use of their internet service. There is also a large reference department. The library has a branch at Ascot and is re-opening one at Cowdray Park. It also has a Mobile Library which benefits readers who cannot get to the main library and supplements school libraries. Needless to say, escalating costs and the current economic situation have placed your library in a precarious financial position and if any firm can assist in kind with its maintenance/ repair work, this would be so much appreciated. 'Rescue a Pothole' campaign; Since our advert through your media, we have received numerous enquiries. May I request that through the same, you assist us in answering the most common questions. It shall greatly assist the many persons wanting to venture into pothole repair, for the very first time. Firstly; be sure to place visible warning signs around the area you are intending to be working within, red buckets, chairs or similar. Reflective triangles should be placed some distance away, facing both traffic directions, this shall assist in pre-warning motorists. If possible wear 'bright coloured' clothing. Eezy Tar is a premixed product, ready to use, just need add a little water. Follow the simple instructions on the packet. No special tools required. However, it should be used last, as the top layer to seal the refilled pothole. Eezy Tar cures as a mat, similarly to a carpet. It is advantageous to firstly create a firm base. Initially; So as to achieve best compaction, backfill pothole using slightly damp gravely soil. Use a broom handle laid flat across the hole, to gauge the required depth. In excess of 1 cm (ONE) is unnecessary. Pour Eezy tar and ram in using a brick. Rather, more tar above & around the hole than wasting it filling the actual hole.
