It is published here in Zimbabwe by amaBooks and recently in the UK by Parthian and has been very well received. The event will last about an hour and drinks will be available beforehand as well as afterwards. There will be no admission charge. "Bolt" was a ballet to a politically correct story that fell foul of the authorities and had only one performance in Shostakovich's lifetime. It was finally revived by the Bolshoi 74 years later in 2005 and an instant success. "Cherry Town" comes from a quarter of a century later in 1957 and is a genuine operetta full of catchy tunes. The film was made in 1963 and there is little that 'differentiates it from standard 1950s Hollywood fare featuring the likes of Doris Day or Bing Crosby, though the lunacy of some of the set pieces is more reminiscent of the silent era. Highlights include a preposterously costumed dance number in a half built apartment, a construction site and on a crane. Supper available during the interval. The buildings used to be owned by the "Inn" group from Zimbabwe but they stood empty for some months before being taken over by the present owner. Avoca Vale is apparently an ' idyllic spot in Ireland', and we found this charming hotel a tranquil place to stay with lovely gardens and a swimming pool for warmer weather. We were welcomed with delight by some of the Staff who come from our own country, who were so happy to see us & chat about "home'. We sampled the Ladies Bar .... "The Strawberry Duck", and enjoyed our dinner in the Drake Dining Room - good food well presented. Best of all was the price, which was very reasonable .
