Have you ever noticed that happiness is not a
dependency, it is a decision? You don't actually need anything to be
happy. It's not something that comes from outside, it comes from inside,
and when you radiate a happy energy Close your eyes... and go back in time... I'm talking about the time of Hide and Seek in the
park... or the dark. Wait, can you still remember... Running till you were out of breath. Laughing so hard
that your stomach hurt. Jumping on the bed..... Pillow fights. Spinning
around, getting dizzy and falling down. Being tired from playing... I'm not finished just yet... Can you still taste and
smell... Remember when... When nearly everyone's mom was at home when the kids got
there. When it was considered a great privilege and very unusual to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant or in a proper hotel or even better, Haddon & Sly's tearoom !! Or When on the rare occasion Dad stopped at Eskimo Hut or
"Milky Inn" Basically, we were in fear for our lives, but it wasn't
because of muggings, drugs, gangs, aids etc. Our parents and
grandparents were a much bigger threat... and some of us are still
afraid of them!!! Remember when.... Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo." Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "Ninger!" "A race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest. Money was handled by whoever was the banker in "Monopoly". The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was germs. Having a weapon in school, meant being caught with a 'BIC' pen pea shooter or an eraser catapulted by a 30cm ruler. Taking drugs meant chewing on 'Cafenol' chewable vitamins or Cod Liver Oil... (yuk). Eskies Ice Cream, Flings, Willards Chips, rock-hard marshmallow Easter eggs and Coke were considered basic nutritional requirements. (and don't forget Tomango Tomato Sauce) Skills and courage were discovered because of a "truth or dare". Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors. We stopped to take a closer look one year when we too had been struck by the beauty of the country side! SECOND TIME AROUND I have a shop called "Second Time Around" in which I buy and sell used goods and sell on commission.It is situated at 125A Main St between 13th/14th Ave (on the left hand side of Scotties) and a second branch soon to open further along in the same block. People leaving the country can sell most of their household goods there and others find a great range of goods there at great prices. Some of the items we sell include: Furniture, crockery, cutlery, EPNS, Pictures, Ornaments, Plants, Curtains, table cloths, Lamps,Puzzles and the rest. Items change all the time obviously, and so it pays to visit regularly.
