AND YET ANOTHER SAD FAREWELL

We are all so very sorry to have to say goodbye to Judy and Matt Oliver who will be leaving for greener climes shortly.

The massive gaps created by both Judy and Matt will be very very hard to fill.

Matt, Dear and Glorious Physician, thank you for all you have done for the Bulawayo community. We gave you our heliocabacterpyloris, you gave us relief, we gave you our accumulations of Gangliocides, you made us better, we gave you our gastrooesophageal refluxes and you gave them back to us cured, what can we say but "Thank you" for your twenty years of service to Bulawayo.

You may have been a bit of a Grumpbucket at times, but you had every right to be and we loved you just the same.

Judy, who will be able to fill your tiny shoes with the tremendous amount of work you did for the Bulawayo Music Community, selfless, tireless, brilliant, we will miss your diminutive form and your gigantic energy.

God Speed.

BEAUTIFUL

A little boy asked his mother, "Why are you crying?"

"Because I'm a woman," she told him. "I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will."

Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?" "All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked, "God, why do women cry so easily?"

God said: "When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort.

I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children.

I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.

I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.

I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.

And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed." "You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."

SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIETY IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

My name is Anna Zibarras and I am the founder and the President of the South African Society in British Columbia in Canada, of the SA Canadian

Business networking Group in Vancouver, and the publisher of the SA telephone and Business Directory of B.

I am very busy with many South Africans and Canadians wanting to immigrate to Canada for the last 7 years.

I would love to let Zimbabwean farmers know that according to the new Canadian Immigration system of June 2002 farmers are welcome in Canada

and should anyone like more information and free assistance for any type of Immigration to Canada can contact me i.e. Anna at azibarras@shaw.ca

TRAVELLERS BEWARE!!

Two scams have come to light on the South African side of the border. The first being a carload of folk who chase Zimbabwean cars holding up a sign saying "Stop Police !!" These men are not bona fide policemen, armed and dangerous.

The second scam is a fellow in a "uniform" at the border post, who asks to check the currency you are carrying, beware, once he has "inspected" it, you will find the money is short once it has been handed back to you.

SMALLS

Our parents are teaching in UK on a work permit, but cannot afford the freight charges to send across some of their personal goods. Would anyone moving across to the UK have a spare corner in their container for a couple of suitcases and a school trunk? If so please call Jo Grobler on 091-365 585 or 09-282428. We are happy to pay a share of the costs.

BABY CLOTHES NEEDED
I wonder if you would include in your next edition a request for cast-off baby clothes for my maid's grand-daughter. The child's mother died unnecessarily of birth complications in Mpilo Hospital and Olivia is now responsible for this new-born baby who will be coming out of hospital at the beginning of September ( she was prem.) As you perhaps know, my husband and I are leaving for Australia and therefore Olivia requires employment. She has made arrangements for the baby's care while she is at work. Please will they contact me on 230980 or at this email address or at 10 Burnham Road, Kumalo. Judy Oliver

JAM POT OR KETTLE NEEDED
I have started a home Industries Project and am making Jams, Jellies, Pickles, Preserves Sauces. Please could you put an advert in your Morning mirror asking if anyone has an old fashioned Jam Pot/ Kettle for making large quantities of jams etc. I know the real thing is a Copper Jam Kettle, but have seen alluminium ones around. Sadly with farmers wives having to leave farms and leaving the country, I thought maybe someone out there would have one for me. I am willing to buy if it is the correct quality pot and size I need.

OBITUARY

We salute our friend and colleague Basil Katz who passed away in Johannesburg on Tuesday 27 August 2002.

Basil was one of the longest serving members of the Matabeleland Tennis Board and gave of himself to tennis in Zimbabwe for more than 50 years.

He will be sorely missed in both the tennis and business circles in Bulawayo.

TIDBITS

Please warn everyone. My parents drove to Hillside Dams late this afternoon, and whilst they were away from their car, walking, one window was smashed and the radio stolen.

TODAY'S INCREDIBLE HEADLINE - " BRITAIN PREPARES ATTACK !!"

You will all be most relieved to know that the RAF is going to swoop down and rescue us all "Black Hawk Down" style !!

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time. This, of course, produced an impressive set of callouses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail. And because of his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him.......are you ready? Super calloused fragile mystic vexed by halitosis.
