An Old Farmer's Advice:
* Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
* Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance.
* Life is simpler when you plough around the stump.
* A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
* Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.
* Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.
* Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.
* Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
* It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.
* You cannot unsay a cruel word.
* Every path has a few puddles.
* When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
* The best sermons are lived, not preached.
* Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
* Don't judge folks by their relatives.
* Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
* Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back,
you'll enjoy it a second time.
* Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.
* Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
* If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop
diggin'.
* Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
* The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with,
watches you from the mirror every mornin'.
* Always drink upstream from the herd.
* Good judgement comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad
judgement.
* Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it
back in.
* If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try
orderin' somebody else's dog around.
* Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the
rest to God.

Dear Family and Friends
thankyou so much for you love and support we appreciate it so much
during this sad time. It has and is a huge shock to all of us she is
so loved and will be missed she has left a big hole in all our hearts
but we know that Trish would want us to remember all the good times
and want us to smile.
We will be having the funeral on Monday the 12th of December 2005 at
the church Our lady of Lourdes, Kumalo at 3pm. We will have the wake
at Beggers Roost afterwards please could you supply a plate of
snacks there will be a limited supply of drinks to celebrate Trish's
life and love for all of us.
Perhaps you sent a lovely email,
or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words
that a friend could say.
Perhaps you were not there at all,
just thought of us all day.
Whatever you did to console our hearts,
we thank you very much, whatever the part.
Thank you again
Billy, Scott, Clint, Natalie, Danny and all the family

OF MERE BEING
The palm at the end of the mind,
Beyond the last thought, rises
In the bronze distance.
A gold-feathered bird
Sings in the palm, without human meaning,
Without human feeling, a foreign song.
You know then that it is not the reason
That makes us happy or unhappy.
The bird sings. Its feathers shine.
The palm stands on the edge of space.
The wind moves slowly in the branches.
The bird's fire-fangled feathers dangle down. -- Wallace Stevens, 1954
An Advent Message
Johann Christoph Arnold
A few months before my grandfather, an outspoken opponent of Nazism,
died in a German hospital (in 1935), he shared a dream he had had
about Hitler. It is a remarkable dream in that it reflects the
thought that even the worst enemy can be transformed into a friend,
providing we have faith.
