SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CASE OF THE SILK STOCKING When the murder of a penniless shopgirl is linked to the body of debutante Lady Alice Burnham, Sherlock Holmes (Rupert Everett) immediately begins to piece together the clues. The murky world of the menacing London docks collides with the glamour and glitter of Edwardian high society as Holmes and Dr. Watson (Ian Hart) are reunited to solve a case that threatens to overwhelm the privilege and tranquillity of aristocratic society. - It's a dark and gripping mystery that has as much of the feel of contemporary police drama as it does the classic Holmes cases. Everett in particular is excellent as a callous, almost cruel Holmes, with Hart dominating his scenes as a most forceful Watson. [Television Heaven] - This is the best portrayal of Sherlock Holmes ever, on the small or big screens, and it also happens to be the closest to the literary Holmes. A CHORUS LINE The original Broadway production of A Chorus Line opened fifty years ago and ran for a record 6,137 performances; the film followed ten years later directed by Richard Attenborough and starring Michael Douglas and Terrence Mann. In a Broadway theatre, director Zach judges dozens of dancers and their performances. After initial eliminations, sixteen hopefuls remain. Arriving late is former lead dancer Cassie, who once had a tempestuous romantic relationship with Zach but left him for Hollywood. Now she has not worked in over a year, and is desperate enough to be part of the chorus line.
