I well remember when I was an Advertising Executive with the Ad Agency Adveritas many many years ago!! We had the very best fun as a team of young people with a passion for writing, events, advertising and promotion.
The driving then was not as bad as it is now but it was pretty bad and during my tenure someone came up with a magnificent Radio and TV campaign. It was to be entitled 'Take His Number'.
Anyone seeing an idiot driving badly was tasked with taking his/her number, together with details of the traffic offence, and submitting it to a police task force, who would follow through with the necessary steps. What a brilliant idea!!
I wish that campaign was still running as this morning I took down the number of a fellow driving a fancy white twin cab, registration ABX 2595, who drove with purpose, mid morning, straight through a red light on the intersection of Fife Street and 9th Avenue, nearly taking out several cars in the process...
Sadly the advertising campaign was never authorised as the police did not have the capability or manpower to handle it.
Think of the fun the police in Zimbabwe could have if someone resurrected the campaign Surely they must be totally bored by now, with stopping cars only to look see if they have a radio license
