Invite Your Audience Carefully...

Not everyone needs to have a front row seat in your life.
There are some people in your life who need to be loved from a
DISTANCE.
It is amazing what you can accomplish when you let go of - or
minimise your time with - those draining, negative,
incompatible,
'not-going-
anywhere' relationships or friendships.
   Observe the relationships around you.
Pay close attention...
Which ones lift, and which ones lean?
Which ones encourage, and which ones discourage?
Which ones are on a path of growth uphill, and which ones are going
downhill?
When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse?
Remember that the people you have around you will have an impact
on
your life, your values and your income.
So, be careful when choosing the
people you hang out with, as well as the information with which you
will  feed your mind. We should not share our dreams with negative
people,
nor  feed our minds with negative thoughts.
The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love
and truth
around you... the easier it will become for you to decide who gets
to
sit  in the FRONT ROW, and who should be moved to the balcony of
your
life.
You cannot change the people around you....but you CAN change the
people you choose to be around!
WHO IS IN YOUR FRONT ROW ???

THEMBELIHLE
Thembelihle is a "Halfway House" for patients with complications of
AIDS who, although ill, do not need (and cannot afford) admission
to
expensive hospitals for treatment, yet are too sick for care at
home.  They may have ulcers and skin diseases, diarrhoea and
dehydration, severe nerve pains and poor nutrition.  Their families
may live in small crowded houses and are already burdened with
chronic shortages of food and fuel, constantly rising costs of all
necessities and may lack the skills to treat their ill
relatives.                                 This is where
Thembelihle
can help
It is a nursing home in Mpopoma which provides appropriate nursing
care, good nutrition and support by skilled staff in a peaceful
environment at minimal cost. Relatives are also counselled and
shown
in a practical way how to look after the patient when well enough
to
go home.  It is a non-Government organisation (NGO) which does not
receive regular financial support from Government sources, nor from
the Global HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB fund.  We have received much help
from Rotary, Churches, Tudor Trust, MAC and NAC and other
organisations and individuals but now these sources are drying up
and
Thembelihle is faced with a crisis.  We need ongoing funding for
staff and every day expenses - about US$15 000 per month. Can any

Bulawayo Join  Hands Project

Breaking Down 'Ingculazi' HIV and AIDS
Better links..Better people..Better Bulawayo

Invitation to a fund-raising dinner hosted by Bulawayo join hands
Committee: Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), The Natural History
Museum, The National Art Gallery of Bulawayo, Bulawayo City
Council,
RAPT, Bulawayo Polytechnic, Exodus Youth Club, Mpilo OI Clinic, and
St Patricks.

Zimbabwe according to the World Health Organisation is estimated to
have an HIV prevalence rate of 21% among the 15-49 year age group.
In
2005, it was estimated that there were 1,61 million PLWHA (People
Living With HIV/AIDS) and that 26.611 new cases of HIV occurred
among
children aged 0-14 years. In addition, an estimated 1.050.000 HIV/
AIDS orphans (aged 0-14) were living in Zimbabwe at the end of 2005.
It is a recognition of the above, that Bulawayo Join Hands
Committee
uses the media of art, sport and dialogue be used to promote
awareness and positive behaviour change towards HIV and AIDS within
the community of Bulawayo.
Our objectives are:
To gather enthusiastic and active civic organisations
together in
view of organising specific events in addressing HIV/AIDS in the
Bulawayo community.
To contribute towards the creation of positive behaviour
change
within the community of Bulawayo through awareness of the ongoing
HIV/
AIDS interventions
To organise specific events that would sensitise the
Bulawayo
community to the need of fighting HIV/AIDS using sport, art and
dialogue as a means of awareness.
To meet its objectives, Bulawayo Join Hands Committee will be
hosting
a fund raising Intercultural Dinner to raise 1.200.000.000.00 Zim$.
Proceeds from the fund-raising Intercultural Dinner will cover the
costs of implementing the following the programmes:
1 day Film festival on HIV/AIDS issues:
On the 7th of September, at the Rainbow Theatre two artistic
movies
will be presented for free entrance.
At 16:00: 'Yesterday' and at 18:00: 'Transit'.

      Painting together:
Children with and without HIV/AIDS will paint together and
they will
exhibit their pieces of work at the national gallery. Students from
24 schools (6 representatives per district in Bulawayo, 3 primary
and
3 secondary) will paint together with children who are under ART at
Mpilo OI Clinic. We are looking at a total number of 60 children.
The first day, on the 5th of September (9:30 - 4:00), all
the
children will attend a seminar on HIV/AIDS issues and especially on
breaking the stigma and discrimination among them. The coming days
children will come up in groups, half (10) students and half (10)
of
Youth Club at Mpilo OI Clinic. In the morning (10:30 - 13:00) they
will attend workshops in the Theory of Art, 'story telling' by
Bambela Arts and they will work on their experimental pieces. In
the
afternoon (14:00 - 16:00) they will criticise their paintings and
they will work on their final pieces. The last day of the festival
they will exhibit their pieces. ART competition will follow.
The HIV/AIDS facilitators will be Siniko Ndlovu (MSF),
Mutsvairo
(RAPT), Hildegard (MSF), Admire, Skha (REPPSI), Sister Dube (Mpilo
OI
Clinic). The ART facilitators will be Fisani Nkomo, Dumisani Owen,

followings there is a need for one art-facilitator and two HIV/AIDS
facilitators (Wednesday: Siniko Ndlovu & Admire, Thursday: Siniko
Ndlovu & Hildegard, Friday: Siniko Ndlovu & Skha). Children will be
given with certificates of participation and the 3 best art-pieces
of
them will be rewarded with nice prices.

NEWS RELEASE      JULY 21 2006  JOSEPH ONE

The popular Andrew Lloyd-Webber/Tim Rice musical Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be staged by Harares St Johns
College as its second term production.
The show will run in the schools hall for two nights only,
Friday
July 28 and Saturday July 29 (7pm both nights), and will be an
entry
in this years Schools Theatre Festival, which is sponsored by
African Distillers as a community service.
The focus of the musical is the Old Testament story of
Joseph, one
of the 12 sons of Jacob.  His brothers jealousy sees him sold off
into slavery, only to rise to fame because of his ability to
interpret dreams. The show was written for a school by Lloyd-Webber
and Rice in the late 1960s and in the past 30 or so years it has
been
staged countless times around the world, becoming a firm favourite
of
many people.
The St Johns College production features a cast of college
boys
and a band made up of staff and students.  A Lower Sixth student,
Zoran Zec, plays the title role.
Musical direction is by Paul Shephard, costumes and choreography by
Mitzi Carruthers and sound equipment has been donated by HK  Audio/
Musicmate.
'This show will appeal to all ages and is open to the public

A PERSONAL INVITATION TO SUPPORT THE ZNSPCA THROUGH THE BLUE CROSS
CHALLENGE

As I'm sure you are aware, the ZNSPCA are desperate for funds to
keep
their local and national animal care facilities operational where
hundreds of desperate and ill treated pets are rescued and housed,
and numerous domestic and rural animals are recovered and taken
care
of awaiting relocation to better environs.

HOWEVER .. while the society are doing their invaluable work so
effectively with their capable staff, it is us the members of the
public that they rely on for their financial needs to keep their
humane facilities functioning effectively.

With this economic aspect of the organisation in mind, there are
several very special fund raising projects that are held on a
continual and an annual bases, and one of these erstwhile projects
is
THE BLUE CROSS CHALLENGE, where participants are required to either
walk or cycle a distance of over 500 kms from the lowest to the
highest places of Zimbabwe, from the Save River banks in the
eastern
lowveld @ 150 Mtrs above sea level, to the peak of Mount Nyangani @
2593 Mtrs in the eastern highlands, over a period of time ranging
from 5 days for the cyclists to 14 days for the striders.

The participants in this challenge must cover their own personal
costs such as travel and accommodation expenses, and over and above
this huge outlay on their part, also face the gruelling task of
traversing the tough terrain and rough conditions faced in order to
complete this mammoth task. However, it is to you that we request a
donation towards raising financial support towards this project of
the ZNSPCA to help towards the continuation of the animal
protection
program.

The local Bulawayo branch of the ZNSPCA received a light utility
vehicle a few years ago because of the efforts of the BLUE CROSS
CHALLENGE just as an example of what can be achieved through your
support, and so we ask you once again for you to dig deep into your
pockets and donate towards this year's BLUE CROSS CHALLENGE fund
raising project.

THIS IS OUR INVITATION TO YOU TO HELP JOIN IN THE BUE CROSS ANNUAL
CHALLENGE TO RELIEVE ANIMAL SUFFERING IN ZIMBABWE BY BECOMING PART
OF
OUR FUND RAISING TEAM FOR THIS YEAR

I am once again attempting to complete this arduous task and
unrivalled challenge in mental and physical stamina which begins on
Monday 14th August, and although I was awarded the BLUE CROSS
SHEILD
OF ACHIEVEMENT in 2004 with the tireless and loving support of
Jenny
who is my seconder, this year we would like to be in the top end of
the fund raisers and our target is to come up with over 450 million
Zimdollars with your help, as financial members and participants of
our team, the monies to be injected into the coffers of this
worthwhile organisation.

We realise that you may already donate to this and other?
organisations but every added amount through our designated and
allocated?donors book will help this goal of ours and I will
hopefully be making personal contact with you to arrange our
collection from you of your cash or cheque contribution within the
next couple of weeks or so.

Subject: Chipangali News Update
Hi Everyone.
This is just a quick note to let you know that Janine no longer
works
at
Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage and has gone to follow her dream of
working with horses. Nicky Wilson has taken over from her but she is
still a real learner in all aspects of computer use. She also has too
much on her plate as it is, in addition to handling the adoption
sponsorship programme.
A Brief History:
Nicky Wilson is a member of the Wilson family that founded
Chipangali.
She married Kevin, the son of the founder almost 11 years ago. She
has
2
children Mickayla and Ryan aged 9½ and 7 respectively.
She teaches as a relief teacher at Whitestone Nursery School to help
pay
her daughter's school fees. She also runs the accounts and general
administration of Chipangali as well as trying to be a wife & mother.
Since Janine's departure she is now handling the adoption sponsorship
programme too.
Please send her e-mails if you have any outstanding correspondence
e.g.
receipts of payment, certificates etc and she will try to get back to
you as quick as she possibly can.
If you are unable to accept pictures on your e-mail or do not want
pictures sent to your e-mail then please inform Nicky in your next
e-mail.
In addition, if you would prefer not to be part of our mailing list
please let her know too.
Please bear with her whilst she finds her feet.
Lots of love

BULAWAYO NEWS

HIT AND RUN
PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR A yellow Nissan Sunny (beginning with
registration numbers 570-428)

What has happened to common courtesy?????
Yesterday, my 16 year old daughter became a victim of a hit and
run incident outside Greenvale Superette. The driver, a woman who
was parked in a non parking zone, suddenly reversed at full speed,
hitting my one daughter (who was on the zebra crossing) and
narrowly
missing myself and my other daughter. At this stage, being almost
face to face with her, I told her through a closed window that she
had hit my daughter. To my horror, she shook her head (as if I had
annoyed her) and sped off in her yellow Nissan Sunny (beginning
with
registration numbers 570-428). Both myself and my daughter were in

state of shock but thankfully, being a sturdy child, she was not
seriously hurt. My sincere thanks to the by-standers and staff of
Greenvale Superette who, besides also being shocked at the
incident,
were extremely helpful and concerned about the welfare of my
daughter. Please would the driver of the vehicle, or anyone who
knows
who she is, contact me as the police have so far, not been helpful.

Many Thanks
June Bion 470481-5 (W) or 880893 (H)

Just in case there is any body in Bulawayo who would like to know
how
the ex members on the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team are doing here
in Britain,i thought that i would let you know.
Tatenda Taibu is playing cricket for Lashings Cricket Club, and is
doing well,Deon Ebrahim is playing club cricket in the Milton Keans
area,i do not know how he is doing, but imagine he is playing well.
Grant Flower is playing cricket for the Essex first team again,he
has
played 2 games of late, and hit some good scores.Andy was out for a
while with a back injury,he is back now,and as per normal,,playing
well.
Sean Ervine has also been on the injury list,he is back and playing
for Hampshire.
Heath is well,he had a good innings recently for Warwickshire, and
scored 58 i think it was..,not out.
Ray Price sat on the bench for a few games for Worcestershire,he is
back with a vengeance, and bowling exceptionally well.
I have the latest rankings for the Victoria-Liverpool 4 day County
Championships,each county plays 12  x 4 day games,most counties are
playing their 11th game in the series.
Here are the latest batting rankings.
Andy Flower is 4th in the top 20 rankings,he has played 10
games, scored 981 runs, his highest score being 190 his average is
70.78
Murray Goodwin is places 11th,with 9 games,he has scored 912
runs,his
highest score is 235,his average being 62.5.

There are currently no Zimbabwe players rated in the top 20 bowlers
for the season.

Yesterday (20th),the Deutche  Bank  World Cup 7's  competition was
played at the Oval,i had the task of running 2 change rooms, looking
after 8 teams, was quite a task to say the least.
The final was played between South Africa and Pakistan,Sa have won
it
the past 2 years,Pakistan required 20 runs off of the last
over..,and
guess what..,go them,to every ones amazement.
I casually enquired why Zimbabwe were not playing in the
competition, they played in the first ever 7's World Cup in 2004,but
did ot play last year,or this year.
The answer i was given was, most of  the chaps playing cricket here
in Britain, were still in dispute with the Zcu,and the Zcu would not
sanction them to play for Zimbabwe.
Lets hope by 2007,the problems with Zimbabwe Cricket have been
sorted
out,and Zim can field a side for the World Cup 7's competition.
Thats it then  Darryl Leith

COLLECTION OF HARD PLASTIC BY THE LIONS CLUB OF BULAWAYO

With regard to our Hard Plastic project ....  thank you to the
Bulawayo community has given a resounding response.

Unfortunately we are having to put this project on hold until
current
collection problems can be resolved.

We regret that we will not be collecting hard plastic from schools
and  Scotties are not able, at present, to accept anymore deliveries.

We are obviously hoping that this situation is temporary.

"The harsh realities of the economic climate in this country has
left
many of our experienced and qualified hunters with little choice
but
to seek employment outside our borders in order to survive.
This has meant that there are many partners, fiancees, wives and
families in and around Bulawayo having to cope without the support
and companionship of their partners/husbands.
We are trying to set up a network of support by establishing a
database of all "grass widows".  We would like to try and set up a
"sisterhood" of support for all those who find themselves lonely
especially over weekends that seem to go on forever.  By doing so,
we
hope to become proactive rather than reactive in the situation that
we find ourselves in and to show our men that they have one less
thing to worry about.
By sending your details (name, contact telephone number and e-mail
address) to either of the e-mail addresses below, you are
indicating
that you are willing to become a beacon of support to other women
who
are in the same situation as you.  This could mean hosting a "bring-
a-
plate" tea at your house on a Sunday afternoon, or pulling together
to take the kids out on a day trip to Chipangali or going to the
Matopos on a picnic, bring-and-braais, establishing bookclubs, wine
evenings;  the possibilities are endless ...
Depending on the response that we receive, we will make contact
with
all those who express an interest in this idea.
We would also like to point out that this network is not limited to
hunters' wives but to ALL singe moms/wives who are looking for
companionship and support and to find things to do with their kids
over weekends, even if this means your kids being entertained
whilst
you take the time for a quick cuppa with grown-up company!
Finally, we take this opportunity to wish our loved ones all the
best
in their new ventures.  May they receive the recognition that they
deserve.  God bless and come home soon!

ON THE SUBJECT OF THE COMMON COLD FROM ELSPETH !
The moment you feel that you are getting a cold - heavy
head, dry throat, etc. you take a teaspoon - only a little one - of
Bicarbonate of Soda in a glass of water.      And you won't get the
cold.
It doesn't work if you take bicarb daily, in case !
It doesn't work if you wait two hours after feeling the initial
symptoms,
but it does help to shorten the lifespan of the cold.
I have used bicarb for ages for all sorts of things - particularly
on
the cows in the dairy and staff.    None of my staff are allowed to
get a cold because of this and bicarb sits on the pantry shelf for
them to take when they need it.    Paul and the children are very
cheery of asking for any form of muti from me - all I ever
prescribe
is Bicarb.
Very good for 24 hour diarrhoea / vomiting.    Take a teaspoon and
it
sends it out and brings it up and you seldom have to go again.
Brilliant for burns - made into a paste,
and for putting out fires - small household ones - too expensive to
use commercially :~)
Tenderising meat,
cleaning the bottom of burn pots.
Sore throats - mix one teaspoon each of salt and bicarb, put in a
little bottle/container, and then lick your finger, dip it into the
mixture and then lick your finger again.
Important to remember that it is used for heartburn / indigestion,
but should not be over used as it changes the status in you stomach
and destroys the normal enzymes that digest your food.
